Kiribilli, New Year's Eve celebrations
The New Year's Eve fireworks at nine o'clock are designed for families to enjoy. They were mostly over the harbour and city skyscrapers and offered only a preview of the fireworks on Sydney Harbour Bridge that are seen at midnight. The theme this year was "Awaken the Spirit".
Impressive photos. Looks like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Fantastic photos, well done!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year
awesome photos of the fireworks. i would love to have been there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gesture for families - guess far from thinkable here.
ReplyDeleteMay the new year provide you with a happy and joyfull spirit.
How long were you camped there to get such a good spot? I simply struggle getting there at 3pm to carve out a possie.
ReplyDeleteJulie, we actually arrived about 8pm but did not get such a great position. I wandered down closer to the shore just before sunset to take the first lot of photos. We then spent the rest of the evening at the Kiribilli Hotel before returning to the foreshore about 11.30pm. This time we found a reserve that was a bit further back but a lot less crowded than Bradfield Park. Luck had a lot to do with it.
ReplyDeleteSydney seems to be a perfect place for New Year's Eve because (1) the fireworks are spectacular, (2) it is summer and you can be out for fireworks on New Year's Eve without freezing, and (3) you get to celebrate before the rest of the world (except for the Kiwi's and a few people on some Pacific islands).
ReplyDeleteWell done! What time did you have to get that for that spot. I didn't even entertain going in, having once braved the crowds at the Opera House and vowed never again.
ReplyDeleteAnn, you have to get there really early if you want a comfortable spot to sit back and relax or intend to have a picnic. I was a bit cheeky this year and just went down at the last minute and stood along the walkway to get my photos.
ReplyDeleteReally amazing photos of fireworks. Great job!!
