So beautiful picture, it looks so bright and hot out.
ReplyDeleteGreat architecture.

Looks like another one of those outdoor spots with a roof that nobody uses.
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting archicteture. Good shot
ReplyDeleteNice capture, Jim! A folly is the last thing I would have expected to see n a cemetery, but on reflection, many of the grandiose graves and memorials are flights of folly!
ReplyDeleteNice blog.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful; invites to think.
ReplyDeletePlease have a good Tuesday.

Terrific capture as always, Jim! Great architecture -- different for a cemetery, but beautiful! And, of course, your BLUE skies! Have a great week!

Not exactly a shady spot to rest, but it does take your mind off the seriousness of the place for a moment.
ReplyDeleteI know this folly and West Chapel well, as it was where we had the service for my father in May 2011. It does serve to take the bereaved out of themselves and into another space, to some extent. It is not meant in any way to be a shelter, but purely eye-candy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for another contribution to Taphophile Tragics, Jim. I appreciate the post.
good shot
ReplyDeleteWhat's that in the middle of it?
ReplyDeleteVery stylish, love the folly!
ReplyDeleteNice capture Jim of what looks like well planned and sensitive architecture.
ReplyDeleteA nice touch for a cemetery. A folly...I like that word.

ReplyDeleteSure this is not Jupiters Casino!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I think there was some sort of memorial in the middle of it but I'm not sure what it was.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem strange to have a folly at a crematorium, is it a metaphor for human existence.
ReplyDeleteI agree with other comments that it would take your mind off bereavement even if only for a moment.
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteInteresting structure. I haven't heard the word folly in the 'decorative building' sense in a long time.
ReplyDeleteThe juxtaposition of the words "folly" and "crematorium" makes for some interesting ideas, Jim, but a beautiful photo. You have a very good eye, and I always enjoy seeing your posts.
