Tank Stream Way is a city laneway that features this temporary Laneway Art as part of the annual Art and About Sydney festival. The side of the Thai Airways International building has been used as a canvas for this "tag wall" or street art by Barry McGee. It has stirred up controversy after the artist was given permission to paint graffiti art on a certain wall along Tank Stream Way but also painted graffiti tags on this wall. The City of Sydney council, which produced this event, has been accused of encouraging vandalism. The shadows and light reflected from the office building opposite add some texture to this shot.
I must admit to being a street art fan Jim. Love this capture and the art.
ReplyDeleteThis is very interesting Jim.
ReplyDeleteSpecial but nice!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a Happy Friday!
Great shot of this controversial issue.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting
ReplyDeleteI can understand the controversy; your photograph is a fantastic capture.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
ReplyDeleteI actually like some street graffiti. Great capture! Happy skywatching!
ReplyDeleteWell, there is graffiti and some of it is offensive, but I think this is quite beautiful, and a great photo.
ReplyDeleteGood capture, Jim. There's an almost abstract feel to this...
ReplyDeleteI like it! I guess the lines between graffiti and art blur at some point, but this looks cool.
ReplyDeleteThat is very interesting. Nothing like that ever happens here.

ReplyDeleteInteresting sky! Great capture!
ReplyDeleteHappy SWF. Enjoy your weekend.
That he asked permission made it an artwork in my humble opinion.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the street art is done in an artful way, not annoying or daring as so much of it is!
Emille, he actually didn't have permission to paint this one. Just the other one around the corner which I featured on Monday.
ReplyDeleteinteresting perspective
ReplyDeleteVery interesting.
ReplyDeleteRegards and best wishes
It's beautiful! Great shot.
ReplyDeleteWell I reckon someone should come along an spray a big tag on his art and let him know how it feels to have people do something to your stuff without permission.
ReplyDeleteThis one is however better than the one around the corner.
I like the shadow of this photo! So cool.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend,
Yoshi
