Cronulla, Glaisher Point

The view from from Glaisher Point, in an area nicknamed Sandshoes, in the southern suburb of Cronulla. The breeze was perfect for yachts racing on the Pacific Ocean, which were being watched by a flock of seagulls on the rocky foreshore. These brightly coloured information and hazard signs have been erected at all the local landmarks around Cronulla.

  1. I like the colors, but it looks like there's alot you can't do at this beach!

  5. The yachts, sky, water and rocky bit all look fantastic; the sign does not. But that is ok.. safety must always come first.

  9. Beautiful view, though looks kind of rough out there on the water.

  12. Interesting. I wonder how it came to beach number 52.

  13. Peter, I'm not sure of the origins of the nickname but I have seen some references to a Sandshoes Reef.

Joe, I'm curious about how they decided to number these local landmarks too.

  14. That is a lot of information on the signs. And it is blocking the view of the water and lovely sailboats!

  15. Look like a whole lot of "no", doubtless because people fail to use common sense and need it spelled out for them. A helpful sign, but kind of distracting.

  16. Lesley, I made the sign the focal point but in reality it's not so obtrusive along the vast shoreline.
