This is one of the sandstone bridges over the stormwater canal in Centennial Park. This footbridge was built around 1890 and links Frog Hollow with the Column Garden.
Centennial Park is quite a beautiful place. As shown here and in some of your past posts. The bridge scene is very lovely with the flowers in the distance and the shadows on the bridge itself as well as the ground. Very nice!
It is way too long since I have meandered through CP. Now would be ideal, with all the rain and muck and mire. If tomorrow is clear (ish) I shall give the morning time a go.
Beautiful shadow shot for the day, Jim, and what a lovely place! Hope your weekend is going well!

How pretty in the park. The keystone construction is interesting for the small bridge. Nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely view - the flowers in the distance look so lush!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful capture Jim.

ReplyDeleteLOVE the canvass for that shadow! How I would love to explore that bridge!

ReplyDeleteLovely stonework Jim - reminds me of the beautiful sandstone bridges in Tasmania. Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking beyond the shadows to the lovely masses of red and yellow flowers in the background. Are they calla lilies?
ReplyDelete“More Dead Than Alive”
Magical Mystical Teacher, they are Canna Lilies.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of some the bridges built here in the States during the depression. Lots of our parks were developed then. - Margy
ReplyDeleteNice little functional bridge, jim!
ReplyDeleteThat 120 yo bridge is in great shape.
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous Jim!
ReplyDeleteShadow Delight
Have a great week ahead!
Are there any water underneath? In parts of Auckland, they build big round disc thing, to collect the storm water.
ReplyDeleteI haven't visited this park. Beautiful photo.
ReplyDeleteAnn, I'm not sure but there are paved roads throughout the park so I imagine there would be some underground stormwater drains.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot,I love garden bridges!
ReplyDeleteTotally charming old bridge, Jim!
