Botanic Gardens, The Lioness

"The Lioness" is one of two iron statues that guard the gate that leads to the Lion Gate Lodge, originally the home of the Head Gardener in the Royal Botanic Gardens. "The Lion" and "The Lioness" were presented to the Botanic Gardens in 1912 and restored in 1989. I featured its mate here last week.

  6. Why, oh why have I never seen these beautiful creatures? I've been in the gardens often enough. Next time I'll just have to find the head gardener's house.
Thank you for making me aware of them.

    1. We haven't been having the heatwave you're experiencing in Melbourne. We didn't have a great summer this year but now Autumn is like the summer we didn't have.
