This heritage listed shop and residence is located on the corner of Cumberland Street and Essex Street in The Rocks. The Butchery is two terrace houses built in the 1880s in the Victorian architectural style. The corner building contains a shop with large display windows on the ground level and a separate residence above with access from the side street. This was a butcher shop for many years but these days is a Japanese restaurant. The house next door is a typical 'tunnel back' terrace house from this era.
A really nice historical building!

So well refreshed and preserved! An impressive corner feature!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see period buildings so well maintained. Looks like its been smoothed over with wedding cake icing.
ReplyDeleteNice capture. Becoming a Japanese restraunt, it's very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe building looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThat blue, blue sky peeking over the roof is delightful.
