This mural of Jack Mundey is located on the stairs leading up from the foot of Globe Street to Harrington Street in The Rocks. Jack Mundey is an Australian union and environmental activist who led a successful campaign to protect the heritage and natural environment of Sydney from excessive and inappropriate development. It was created by Portugese street artist Alexandre Farto also known as Vhils, who has cleverly carved this large portrait on two walls of the stairway.
Wonderful mural. I like that it's on one color.

Jim, this is one of the most clever murals I can remember. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI like the way it's done. It looks sort of textured or something. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's carved out of a layer of material which I think is concrete render so it's quite textured.
DeleteNice one Jim. The Rocks area of Sydney is a wonderful area to explore.
ReplyDeleteSomehow the broken element of the image - created by the stairs - adds more depth of character. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteExcellent artwork.
