"Wolli Dancing" is a sculpture located in the middle of a large roundabout at the intersection of Arncliffe Street and Brodie Sparks Drive, in the southern suburb of Wolli Creek. It was designed specifically for this location and created by Australian sculptor Blaze Krstanoski-Blazeski in 2008. Two synonyms for "zest" are "enthusiasm" and "joy" which are words used to describe this artwork on the plaque: Wolli Dancing relates to the Wolli tradition; a place that represents openness, which expresses joy, such as dancing. It captures the sensation and enthusiasm of the performers.
That's a nice idea, Wolli, and a nice sculpture too.
ReplyDeleteYou can feel the zest for life in it.
I've never heard of the Wolli tradition, but I like what I read here. And that certainly is a zesty sculpture.
ReplyDeleteYou can also link this to Friday My Town Shoot Out. The theme is sculptures! Great shot Jim.

Thanks, Mersad, I will.
DeletePerfect for the theme Jim! Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteOutdoor sculpture always brings me a great deal of joy and enthusiasm!!
ReplyDeleteI like that sort of sculpture which appears to be cardboard-cutout. That shade of green is great against the apartment block. I only ever think of Wolli Creek as the Botany mud flats.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly has changed in recent years and continues to do so with more high rise apartments being built.
DeleteIt most certainly does! Thanks for sharing the joy!
ReplyDeleteIt is a most clever interpretation of the "Zest" theme, Jim, as well as educational.
ReplyDeleteThose are words I'd use to describe this piece for sure. Perfect for your theme and a fun picture.
ReplyDeleteThere's a good energy and dynamic feel to the sculpture. Good choice!
ReplyDeletesplendid image and sculpture! Nice one!
ReplyDeleteGreat sense of lively movement and flow inb this delightful artwork. And love the colour contrast with the building behind.
ReplyDeleteEnd of school year yesterday meant happy, dancing kids!

ReplyDeletegood interpretation & terrific photo!
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful choice for this month's theme!
ReplyDeletethat's a zesty sculpture!
ReplyDeleteNice, lively sculpture. I'd like to know more about the Wolli, though. Are they a tribe?
ReplyDeleteIt is thought that the name Wolli Creek was derived from the creek which was full of reeds that made it look woolly. Over time this pronunciation changed to Wolli.
DeleteMagnificent and colorful piece of art!
ReplyDeleteHow cool!
ReplyDeleteI love this sculpture! A great choice for the theme day!
ReplyDeletePS: I wonder if I have seen this in person actually, we stayed a few days in Wolli Creek during our trip to Australia last year. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
I've never heard of Wolli Creek but I like what the authorities are doing there. That's a great addition to the flowerbed. I would worry that it would distract me, so I hope it is easy to find a parking space nearby so I could stop and have a good look. It gives a feeling of freedom and happiness, what more could anyone ask?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info... Had I just seen it I'm not so sure I'd have known how to interpret it! :)
ReplyDelete"Zest" beautifully interpreted and illustrated!
