These murals have been painted on the side of a shop and restaurant on the corner of Church Street and King Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. The blue and red patterned artwork was created by graffiti artist Elliott Routledge also known as Numskull. Some of his artwork is also featured in a building along Pitt Street in the city. The mural of the people using a tin can telephone was created by street artist Fintan Magee. He also has other works on nearby buildings in Newtown and Enmore.
Wow! Quite a sight!
ReplyDeleteNow this is what I call real street ART!
ReplyDeleteLike the tin can phones.
ReplyDeleteLove the random places they placed the art - inspiring! (I wouldn't call this graffiti art)! many thanks for sharing this with SEASONS - is he a well known artist in Australia? Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteNot well known artists, as such, but they probably are in the graffiti art world. I see from Fintan Magee's website he has painted on buildings overseas.
DeleteA striking image, you can't miss when passing by.
ReplyDeleteGreat colorful mural with a tin can phone from our youth. Wonder if the kids of today still do the same or use a mobile?
ReplyDeleteLove the work of Fintan Magee. He's has painted a couple of walls in Perth too with these gigantic murals.
ReplyDeleteAmazing murals---and fun!
ReplyDeleteYou find some of the most interesting art work in your part of the world. We have some around here, but nothing to compare to this.

ReplyDeleteI remember trying to use tin can phones when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteThis is quite a combination of styles, yet the colors help them compliment one another. Is the telephone mural a comment about our modern style of communication? Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeletethe tin can mural is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLoving the Tin Can Mural. The other is interesting and colorful but not my style.
ReplyDeleteHello Jim, You come up with the most interesting murals. This one is very different and the tin can 'phone' shows a great imagination The blue and red graffiti icon is food for thought. Who knew a graffiti artist would be featured in a mural. Smile.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blue Monday. We just arrived home from vacation yesterday. Late catching up. Thank you for joining my blog party.

Looking at the wider view is helpful. A great element of communication on those tin phones and the red and blue work is a fun and cheerful addition
