A yacht makes its way past the Sydney Opera House, viewed across Sydney Harbour from the north shore suburb of Kirribilli. The Horizon Apartments building in the distance, dominates the sky behind the Royal Botanic Gardens at Farm Cove. This heritage listed building was designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon and opened in 1973 as a multi-venue performing arts centre.
Iconic and beautiful.

DeleteI always love seeing this beautiful building.
ReplyDeleteVery classic shot. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteAls always a fabulous view and then to think that Sidney kicked the architect out of the country with a big quarrel during the building process.
ReplyDeleteHello, it a beautiful view of the Opera House and Sydney. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteA fantastic view and not one you see often.
ReplyDeleteMakes me think of baby birds waiting to be fed...
ReplyDeleteI remember a lot of discussion about the design of this structure when it first opened. It was costly, and behind schedule. That is true of many a ground-breaking design that will stand the test of time. Have a blessed week-end.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly was controversial and unfortunately they did not follow the architect's plans for the interior and they and are still debating today whether it's worth spending millions of dollars to change it to that design.
DeleteAwesome
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to see it.
ReplyDeleteEvery time this is a wonderful sight! Arianna
