Paddington, Reservoir Gardens
Paddington Reservoir Gardens are on the corner of Oxford Street and Oatley Road, in the inner city suburb of Paddington. The heritage listed reservoir was built in 1866 as a vital source of water but ceased supplying water in 1899. It became a garage and a petrol station along Oxford Street and The grassed surface became the Walter Read Reserve in 1953. It was redeveloped in 2009 to create an urban sanctuary with lawns, flower beds, shaded seating and a fish pond water feature.
It's quite a peaceful looking spot.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad it was redeveloped - much nicer than a petrol station.

ReplyDeleteHello, pretty view of the garden! Enjoy your day and week ahead.
ReplyDeleteI love that they repurposed the reservoir than abandon it or take apart what looks like a handsome structure.
