The Australia Map Mosaic is located in Maiden Gardens, on the corner of Dawn Fraser Avenue and Showground Road, in the western suburb of Sydney Olympic Park, The mosaic was designed by Cynthia Turner and consists of a colourful image of a sheep, a pig and a cow with the words “Metropolitan Meat Industry Board State Abattoir Homebush Bay 1915–1988” written underneath. It is located outside the former administration block for the State Abattoirs. The Abattoir Heritage Precinct buildings were redeveloped for the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games for use by the Sydney Olympic Park Authority. They are now used for sporting administration offices, visitor information and a cafĂ©.The garden is named after botanist and public servant Joseph Henry Maiden.
