This payphone is located along Firth Street, in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. It is located near the railway station entrance and bus stop shelters, opposite the main street shops. The raised pedestrian crossing behind it is known as a wombat crossing and the speed limit is reduced to 40km/h in this shopping area.

A rare sight these days.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea those raised crossed had a name, how interesting :) And you can now use those cabin phones for free, which is great!
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed. The "pay" in "payphone" is crossed out on the sign and it says you can make free calls to anywhere in Australia.
Delete...payphones are becoming rare here.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen a pay phone for years now! Brought back memories. Interesting your answer above to a comment. I don't think the companies ever did that here.
ReplyDeleteThese payphones are also wi-fi hotspots, hence the wi-fi symbol on the roof.
DeleteI remember the old red phone boxes, no we have ones similar to this.
ReplyDeleteThis is antique material!
ReplyDeleteYou don't see much of them anymore.
