Arncliffe, pre-school

This pre-school building on the corner of Forest Road and Farrar Street in the southern suburb of Arncliffe was originally the Arncliffe Fire Station, built in 1909 in the Federation architectural style. Farrar Street was then known as Gordon Street. The fire station closed in 1945 when duties were transferred to Rockdale Fire Station, which had opened in 1938. A new Arncliffe Fire Station was built in West Botany Street in 2006.

  4. Yes, ProdigalWife. There's a large courtyard and play area at the back.

  5. The Arncliffe Fire Station was built in 1909 when the original Arncliffe Fire Brigade was established. It was on the corner of Forest Road and Gordon Street, Arncliffe. The current Arncliffe Fire Station is occupied by the former Rockdale Fire Brigade.

  6. Thanks, Janette. I'll add that info to my post. It seems Gordon Street became Farrar Street at some time down the track.
