The heritage listed Kogarah School of Arts is located on the corner of Bowns Road and Queens Avenue, in the southern suburb of Kogarah. The Victorian Italianate style building was opened in 1887 and restored in 1990. The two storey school was used for various art classes and technical education. The hall at the rear was used for theatrical performances, concerts, tea meetings, balls. I love this building. I know it opened in 1887 specifically for the arts students, but it has the distinct look of a bank or post office, doesn't it. There would have always been a second storey, for the bank manager, post master or art director, and their families.

The building is very beautiful and the architectural design is very beautiful. Our school of art is very modern and still under construction. I will post about it another day.
