Family Court of Australia, Goulburn Street

The Family Court of Australia is a federal court that in Sydney is located in the Lionel Bowen Building on Goulburn Street. The buiding which was opened in 1994, is named after a former Deputy Prime Minister and Attorney General, Lionel Bowen. This contemporary building is not particularly remarkable but it does feature a unique sculpture over the entrance that always catches my attention when I walk past.

  6. I really enjoy your post when you show some of your great city. I was there once, but did not get to see as much as I wanted. My sister became ill, so that stopped us from doing a lot touring. Thanks.

  7. Maybe just perfect to reflect the "strength" of a family.

Yet, wonder what this court is about, whether there are things inside, making one smile or cry.

    Please have a wonderful weekend.

  8. It's interesting how the man and the woman in the sculpture on the Family Court building are looking in different directions ...

  9. Robert, unfortunately I think the family law courts deal with more things that make one cry rather than smile.

Ann, it's very hot in Sydney today. Heatwave conditions. We're expecting 39 degrees celsius. I have no interest in seeing visiting royalty and it seems, the same goes for most Australians these days.

  11. Interesting sculpture. It almost suggests that the family court has a great weight resting on its shoulders. What that weight symbolises, I guess, is the real question.
