As part of the Vivid Sydney festival, this bench has been installed along the Circular Quay foreshore, leading up to the Sydney Opera House. The artwork is called "C/C" and is created by Singapore's Angela Chong. It is illuminated at night with low energy, colour changing LED lights. I thought it was worth photographing during the day because it has such a spectacular backdrop. It's a shame the view was partly blocked by the hoarding around the escalators which are being repaired.
Very interesting design for that bench!
ReplyDeleteYou guys have a lot of cool art there. My first thought was that it looks like it is made of ice, and then I saw your post below about the ice bear. Neat photos, thanks for showing them to us.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Do people sit on it? It looks too fragile, like something out of a fairy tale castle.
ReplyDeleteSallie, yes they do. It does look a bit fragile but it's quite sturdy.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing design and certainly beautiful by day!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see this in the daylight Jim - I've seen Ann's photos of it all lit up at night (which is fabulous) so now I'm seeing a different perspective. What an awesome designer !
