This memorial in 1980 in Pioneers’ Memorial Park in the south western suburb of Liverpool, was erected by Rotary International. It is dedicated to the men, women and children who through their pioneering spirit and determination established Macquarie Town, now known as Liverpool. This piece of old farming equipment on the plinth, reflects on the past.
Thank goodness for the dedication and spirit of the pioneers, nice tribute, and Jim your pictures from yesterday is excellent, love the drama of the spire reaching up into the thunderous sky!
ReplyDeleteDid the locals vote on how the memorial should look? I wonder if they were happy about the piece of farming equipment.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to remember what those before us did so we can have the life we're living today!
ReplyDeleteTerrence looks at the sky
Hels, I'm not sure about whether anybody voted for the type of monument. On the one hand it's quite a simple idea for a monument but on the other hand it's quite good that they've saved something from the past and are displaying it here.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see an actual piece of equipment preserved as a piece of symbolic art! Lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteAt first glance I thought it was a modern sculpture of an animal.
ReplyDeleteThe Sydney area certainly has recognized those who founded dhe towns that gave rise to the city! And created beautiful areas to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteGood to remember them!
ReplyDeleteNice reflection of the past...
ReplyDeleteThat was probably used to till the land... nice that it's erected as a reminder to the simple hard working days of the past.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting take on 'reflection' here.
ReplyDeleteThese palms are beautiful and their shadows look like they are dancing on the grasses. Sometimes we forget the pioneers of our countries and all they did so we can now have the lives we have. Love the piece of old equipment. So interesting. genie
ReplyDeleteJim, this is a great interpretation of the reflection theme and an interesting memorial to pioneers. I like that the old farm machinery is being displayed. I sometimes wonder at the resilience and spirit of those people who began farming these lands and the harsh conditions they had to overcome.
ReplyDeleteI like palms ... they suggest elegant parkland to me.
