"Planet: Under Construction" is an artwork that was created for this year’s Vivid Sydney Festival, which just ended last night. It was created using construction cones in a spherical lighting sculpture that mimics a planet and was hanging below the railway bridge to Circular Quay Railway Station. The design team behind the project were Guillermo Fernandez, Young Lee, Penny Craswell, Danny Wehbe, Amanda Gore, Thomas Hale, India Collins, Sophie Bennett, Mohammed Khaled, Darryl Chandler, Paul King, Adnan Saric, Jeremy Sparks and Richard Cale.
There simply is no more room for traffic cones on the ground, so the only way to place them is: UP.

ReplyDeleteWow - that certainly is eye-catching!
ReplyDeleteI am just back from Sydney (for a conference over the long weekend), but didn't see or hear about this spherical lighting structure. It sounds like a very cool idea.
ReplyDeleteYou may have had trouble getting close to some these artworks on the long weekend because thanks to the public holiday they had record crowds that caused traffic chaos around the city.
DeleteThat is stunning!! Great capture for the day, Jim!!
ReplyDeleteWow - amazing and vibrant!
