Maroubra fire station is located along Maroubra Road, in the eastern suburb of Maroubra. It was designed by Spain and Cosh in the Interwar Free Classical aritectural style and built in 1924.
Yes to the description (Interwar Free Classical aritectural style) and yes to the date (built in c1924). It is almost Georgian in its gorgeous symmetry. But oh those dark bricks are horrid.
What a great facade Jim. Love the dark bricks against the pale yellow color. Really beautiful.

I am partial to brick buildings, so this speaks to me.
ReplyDeleteWonderful building, Jim! Certainly looks better than most fire departments here in the states!! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSince my hubby was a firefighter for 25 years, I am partial to buildings that hold these guys!!!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteWhat a classical and dignified building! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI know Maroubra well, love the old station!
ReplyDeleteApart from the doors it looks almost like an ordinary house
