Newtown, mural

This is part of a mural on the side of a shop at the corner of King Street and Darley Lane, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. The mural has been updated recently but still features Ganesha, a widely worshipped Hindu deity with four arms and an elephant head. The previous version of the mural can be seen here.

    1. No, but the mural is on the side of Fiji Market, a shop that specialises in all things Pacific Islander, Indian and Sri Lankan.

This is the first BLUE ELEPHANT that we've had on Blue Monday!

  9. I must admit, I like the original version better! Maybe because it's more feminine :)

    1. I wasn't familiar with Ganesha before seeing this mural and must admit I thought he, was a she. :)

  10. Ganesha seems to be a popular subject all over the world, even Oakland. We could all use a little help in removing obstacles and gaining prosperity. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

  12. The newer one seems less friendly, and I don't see the mouse at his feet. The murals seem to be done by very good artists.
