Abbotsford House is a heritage listed house with views of Abbotsford Bay, in the inner west suburb of Abbotsford. It was built by physician, philanthropist and politician Sir Arthur Renwick in 1878 in the Victorian architectural style. The suburb took its name from this house which was named after Abbotsford in the United Kingdom, the residence of historical novelist and poet, Sir Walter Scott. In 1920 it became the site of a Nestlé chocolate factory, with the house used initially for chocolate production and later as their administrative offices. The factory was closed in 1991 and the estate was redeveloped with medium-density residential apartments known as Abbotsford Cove, while preserving the historic house.
