The Rocks, First Fleet Park, map (Theme Day: Look Down)

This giant map of Sydney Cove, now Circular Quay, which doubles as a bench is located in First Fleet Park. This view is looking down from the walkway beside the Cahill Expressway, above Circular Quay railway station as a jogger jogs past. The park is near the site of the landing of the First Fleet in 1788, so has a strong historical association with the first European settlement in Australia and the subsequent development of the colony. The map was installed when the park was redeveloped for the bicentennary and shows Sydney Cove in 1808 and compares it to Circular Quay in 1988.

  1. You've chosen a good take on the theme. I imagine this theme's going to be problematic for those who have issues about heights!

    1. Thanks, Grace. I had a few shots without people in them but I thought he would help illustrate how big the map bench actually is.
