That's a beautiful bandstand only matched by the jacaranda.
We used to see those in small towns around here, but not for a long time.
Sallie, they certainly don't build any new ones but it's great these have survived to recall the past.
These are ubiquitous in small towns where I grew up.Worth a Thousand Words
I did not know that! It must have been quite wonderful back in those days that there were so many celebrations that parks required bandstands....
All the doo dah day!
I'm reminded of one in a town where my parents would occasionally visit.
When I tried to write the history of Federation bandstands in Australia in 2009, my examples were almost all from Melbourne or rural Victoria. Except for one gorgeous photo from Hyde Park in Sydney. I think that might be your bandstand that was later (in 1911) reconstructed at Camperdown Park !!!
I've just linked a photo of it in Hyde Park to this post.
Such a wonderful place
I love all those old bandstands, Jim, and this one is a beauty.Thank you for taking part in the Travel Tuesday meme, hope to see another of your entries there this week!
Thanks for visiting my blog. Please leave me a message. Jim.
