Matraville, Pioneer Memorial Park

Pioneer Memorial Park is part of the the Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, in the eastern suburb of Matraville. It was created in 1976 as a memorial of early pioneers and prominent citizens of the colony of New South Wales. It features 746 surviving memorials that were transported here in 1901 from the early Sydney burial grounds, Town Hall Cemetery, beside St Andrew's Cathedral and the Sydney Burial Ground, also known as Sandhills or Devonshire Street Ground Cemetery.
