Millers Point, Towns Place North

A view of Towns Place North from Pier 8/9 Wharf on Walsh Bay, in the inner city suburb of Millers Point. The two storey timber-framed weatherboard building was built in 1910 as a detached office building for the port facilities at the Walsh Bay wharves. The former warehouses along The Promenade have been converted to apartments with shops, restaurants and cafes.

  1. Very nice - it's strange to see apartments on piers like that!

    1. These apartments are actually on the shore but there is a boardwalk in front of them and piers jutting out from that. However, the office building is on the boardwalk and there are other apartments on the piers.

  2. This is my first time seeing apartments on piers in the water! I wonder whether there are edible fishes in the water.

    1. Considering there are a lot of vessels using the harbour, it's not advised to eat the fish from there.

  4. As long as the timber posts were guaranteed to be solid under the water, I would love living there. But I have just watched a film on Venice sinking.

    1. I don't think Sydney Harbour is sinking though, thankfully.
