St Brigid's Roman Catholic Church and School is located along Kent Street, in the inner city suburb of Millers Point. It was originally a single storey, two classroom stone building designed by Ambrose Hallen and Mortimer Lewis, built in 1835 in the Georgian architectural style. The sanctuary was added in the late 1860s in matching stone. The upper level was a dramatic change made in 1933, designed by Roarty & Roarty in the art deco style.

Distinctive architecture. St. Brigid's a common name in Catholic institutions.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting how the various layers were added over the years. The substructure must be very sturdy!
