Sydenham, art

Sydenham Green is a recreational area which has been created around Railway Road, in the inner west suburb of Sydenham. It was created in 1999 after over 150 homes were acquired and demolished by the Federal Government when aircraft noise from the third runway at Sydney Airport made the area uninhabitable. This artwork in the middle of the park depicts a typical lounge room from one of those lost houses. It features a giant lounge with a throw rug made up of little tiles with images of aeroplanes, an oversized black lamp shade and a coffee table with a giant tea pot and cup. The other half of the room can be seen here.
