This pavilion, originally known as the Anglican Rest House and later renamed the Ornamental Rest House, is located in Rookwood Necropolis, the cemetery in the western suburb of Rookwood. It was built in 1878 in the Victorian style near the former railway station. Later, staff nicknamed it the Elephant House because it looked like the original Indian Elephant House at Taronga Zoo.

ReplyDeleteWell, I don't think all Victorian style buildings were slender or narrow. It's from the Victorian era but has Indian influences.
