Sydney Opera House, Bicentenary of Greek Independence

The Sydney Opera House was lit up on 25 March 2021 with a projection of the colours of the Greek flag to mark 200 years of Greece's Independence. At an official ceremony, dignitaries spoke about the importance of recognising the contribution of Greek people to Australia.

  1. Amazing indeed! It looks like a ship and its sails.

  2. Yes you can definitely see it's for Greece.

  3. Wow, what a great symbol they made. Was wondering, of which country did Greece became independant from - do you know? Beautiful capture with this ship in the evening! Many thanks for sharing this feast with All Seasons, Jesh

    1. Greece came under Ottoman rule in the 15th century, in the decades around the fall of Constantinople. The Ottoman Empire declined until all that remained was Turkey.
