The main entrance of the Uniting War Memorial Hospital, built in the Spanish Mission style, is located along Birrell Street in the eastern suburb of Waverley. The E. Vickery Memorial Building and grounds were gifted to the Methodist Church for use as a private hospital in 1919. The church added to the site by acquiring adjacent properties. The operating theatre wing was dedicated in memory of those from the district who lost their lives in World War One, including the boys of the 21st and 22nd Waverley-Woolhara Senior cadets. In 1977, the Methodist Church became part of the Uniting Church of Australia.
