Chatswood, Mashman Park

This fountain is in Mashman Park, located along Victoria Avenue in the northern suburb of Chatswood. The park is named after William and Henry Mashman who operated Victoria Pottery on this site which produced terracotta and stoneware including chimney pots, urns, chicken feeders, bread crocks and storage jars. In 1959 the Royal Doulton Company bought the business but ceased trading in 2000. The factory was redeveloped into residential apartments in 2004 and palm trees were salvaged and relocated to this park. “Paydirt. A tribute to the Unknown Industrial Potter” is an environmental art design project by Peter Day and Jo-Anne Fuller which integrates the history of the site into the fountain's splash tiles and a brick bas-relief by Suzie Bleach and Andrew Townsend.

  1. Similar to the fountains at City Hall in Stockholm. Nice symmetry.

Large palm trees adorn the corners.
    Good thing they moved there!

  7. That's very nice. I'd love to sit there and hear nothing but the water.
