Banksia, market gardens

Arncliffe Market Gardens are located along West Botany Street, in what is now the southern suburb of Banksia. These heritage-listed market gardens have been occupied by market gardeners since 1892.

Circular Quay, boat

This Environmental Services work boat at Circular Quay is heading out into Sydney Harbour past the Sydney Opera House. ES6 is one of a pair of 12 metre long boats used by the New South Wales Government Maritime Authority since 2022.

Camperdown, University of Sydney, walkway

A view of the main entrance to the Main Building which is part of the Quadrangle Group of buildings on the University of Sydney campus, in the inner city suburb of Camperdown. This view is towards UTS Tower and the Central Park buildings.

Haymarket, Christ Church St Laurence

 

A view of Christ Church St Laurence, an Anglican church located along George Street, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. This heritage listed church was built in 1845 and designed by Henry Robertson and Edmund Blacket in the Old Colonial Gothick Picturesque and Victorian Free Gothic styles. A shop with residence above is located alongside it on George Street and the clock tower at Central Railway Station can be seen in the distance.

South Hurstville, mural

 
This mural is located on a retaining wall along King Georges Road at Grosvenor Street, in the southern suburb of South Hurstville. It was created in 2022 by artist David Cragg in collaboration with Woniora Road School students and is inspired by local fauna. It includes a kookaburra, a superb fairy wren and two tawny frogmouths on branches. It replaces the Community Wall mural which was here.

Leichhardt, Presbyterian Church, hall

This former church hall, built in 1909, is located along Renwick Street, in the inner west suburb of Leichhardt. It is attached to the heritage listed former Leichhardt Presbyterian Church facing Marion Street, built in 1885 with a façade of Romanesque inspired details. The church functions ceased in 1980 and the buildings are now used as a child care centre.

Pyrmont, wharf

 
A view of the pylons of a former wharf which form a 'pole garden' beside Pirrama Park, in the inner west suburb of Pyrmont. A new pontoon wharf is located further back on the left, as well as a smaller concrete one at the front, on the right. The White Bay Cruise Terminal can be seen in the distance across Johnstons Bay.

Pyrmont, Johnstons Bay, bench

A sunset view across Johnstons Bay to the Anzac Bridge and silos at Rozelle from the Pirrama Park wharf in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont. This bench in front of the 'pole garden' has a message engraved on it, "A harbour to hunt and fish", in reference to the activities of the indigenous Guarangi people who inhabited this site.

Herald Square, sculpture

This sculpture is part of The Tank Stream Fountain in Herald Square, on the corner of George Street and Alfred Street near Circular Quay. The bronze fountain was created by Stephen Walker and presented to the City of Sydney in 1981 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper in 1831. The inscription reads: 1788: A stream flows into Sydney Cove. The European settlement of Australia begins along its sandstone banks. Soon drought strikes and storage tanks are carved from the stone, hence the name Tank Stream. The seasons pass. 1981: The tank stream fountain recalls mankind’s past dependence on this flowing stream and our links with life around this region.

Eveleigh, Locomotive Workshop, substation

 
The heritage listed Locomotive Workshop is part of the former Eveleigh Railway Yards, located along Locomotive Avenue in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. It was built in 1877, consisting of 16 bays originally used for one or more trades required to repair or manufacture locomotives and their components. It is now being redeveloped into commercial and retail space. The substation in front of Bays 5 and 6 has been covered in artwork which lights up at night featuring an employment record of a former railway employee.

Rozelle, White Bay Power Station

The White Bay Power Station is located along Robert Street, in the inner city suburb of Rozelle. The former power station is now used for exhibition space but some of the old equipment has been preserved.

Sydney Arcade, Lego Megastore

The Lego Megastore is at the Pitt Street entrance of Sydney Arcade. It features this mural of the Sydney Opera House built with 2989 Lego bricks.

Brighton-Le-Sands, Botany Bay

A late afternoon view of Lady Robinsons Beach, along the shore of Botany Bay, in the southern suburb of Brighton-Le-Sands.​ A young girl drags a stick along the beach while seagulls otherwise have the beach to themselves on the sand and in the bay.

Barangaroo, skyscrapers

A late afternoon view across Darling Harbour, to the wharves at Barangaroo. The tallest buildings in the background are Crown Sydney, One Sydney Harbour and the International Towers. The Sirius is a First Fleet Class ferry acquired in 1984 that is part of the fleet that operates on the Inner Harbour routes. It was named Sirius, after one of eleven ships of the First Fleet which sailed to Australia in 1787.

Arncliffe, railway station

Arncliffe railway station is on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line, in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. The original buildings on Platform 3 and 4 were built in 1884 and extended in 1923. This view is from the back of the concourse where lifts were installed in 2016 to these platforms and the Burrows Street entrance.

Rockdale, Brighton Terraces

The entrance to the "Brighton Terraces" housing estate is located along West Botany Street, in the southern suburb of Rockdale. These terrace houses were built around 2000 in the Modern Victorian style. The buildings are clearly visible in the middle of winter, with the leaves fallen of many of the trees.

Brighton-Le-Sands, memorial court

This memorial court stands at the front of the Brighton-Le-Sands RSL Club, located along Bay Street in the southern suburb of Brighton-Le-Sands. It contains a contemporary sculpture depicting the obstacles soldiers faced at Gallipoli in World War 1. The plaque reads: This war memorial court is dedicated to those who made the supreme sacrifice.
