Kogarah, St George Private Hospital

A perfectly sunny day with a blue sky above was about to turn overcast and grey when the clouds quickly rolled in, as seen in the reflections in these windows of the St George Private Hospital in the southern suburb of Kogarah. I happened to be in the right place at the right time to capture such a shot.

Maroubra, Mahon Pool

Mahon Pool is a rock pool to the north of Maroubra Beach in the eastern suburb of Maroubra. It is located along the cliffs at the base of Jack Vanny Reserve, off Marine Parade. The Anzac Rifle Range can be seen off in the distance at Malabar.

Botany, St Matthew's Anglican Church

St Matthew's Anglican Church is located along Botany Road in the eastern suburb of Botany. The original church on this site was erected in 1841 and this church which replaced it in 1862 is amongst the oldest in Australia.

Botany, School of Arts

The Botany School of Arts building is located along Botany Road in the eastern suburb of Botany. It was built in 1867 in the Victorian architectural style. It now houses the John Brotchie Memorial Pre-School, named after a former Town Clerk of Botany Council. The mural at the front is in the style of a children's painting.

Coogee, rotunda

Grant Reserve is located directly to the south of Coogee Beach, in the eastern suburb of Coogee. This domed rotunda and grassed amphitheatre host live performances, with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop.

Moore Park, Royal Hall of Industries

The Royal Hall of Industries is located along Drivar Avenue in the eastern suburb of Moore Park. It was built in 1913 in the Federation architectural style. It was also known as the as the Showbag Pavilion, in the days when it was part of the Royal Agricultural Society's Showground. The Sydney Royal Easter Show is similar to a State Fair and showbags were originally free sample bags from vendors or brand groups. These days it is part of The Entertainment Quarter and hosts special events, fairs and festivals.

Darling Harbour, footbridge

This contemporary footbridge was reconstructed in 2012 as part of the Darling Quarter redevelopment at Darling Harbour. It takes pedestrians over Harbour Street, from Liverpool Street to the new office developments near Tumbalong Park.

Little Bay, sculpture

This sculpture is located along the coast looking out on the Pacific Ocean, in the eastern suburb of Little Bay. The bronze sculpture depicts a painting on an ease of a historic event at this coastline. The event was the world’s largest sculpture created in 1969, when international artist Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude wrapped the coastline in fabric, calling it: “Wrapped Coast – One Million Square Feet, Little Bay, Sydney, Australia”. The inscription reads: Remembering Christo and Jeanne-Claude -1969.

Martin Place, Living Colour

This "Living Colour" floral display has been installed along Martin Place to add some colour to the city. The new orange "T" signs, indicating the entrances to Martin Place railway station, have been installed here. These signs are on trial at the moment but have been criticised by designers this week who believe will cause confusion and aren't an improvement on the pictograms they will replace.

Botanic Gardens, Lewis Wolfe Levy Fountain

The Lewis Wolfe Levy Fountain is located in the Royal Botanic Gardens. This Art Nouveau fountain was created by English sculptor Charles Bell Birch, commissioned by the family of politician and businessman Lewis Wolfe Levy in 1889. It is surmounted with a bronze statue of a young woman (supposedly the Goddess Diana) with a heron, reeds and frogs at the base. The four corners of the fountain have large bronze drinking bubblers mounted on them.

Botanic Gardens, Rose Garden

The roses are in bloom in the Rose Garden in the Royal Botanic Gardens. The Rose Pavilion, flanked by two Marble Lion sculptures, is a popular location for weddings and receptions.

Botanic Gardens, Taronga Wild! Rhinos

"Taronga Wild! Rhinos" is an art event featuring a huge herd of wildly colourful rhino sculptures installed around Sydney from February to April 2014. This mass public art exhibition helps raise awareness and valuable funds for Taronga Zoo’s Black Rhino breeding program and conservation projects. This colourful rhino is located in the Royal Botanic Gardens, near Farm Cove. "Put A Lid On It" was created by Jane Gillings using discarded plastic container lids and bottle caps.

Kingsford, St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church

St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church is located along Gardeners Road, in the eastern suburb of Kingsford. This heritage listed buiding was originally constructed in 1962 with further additions completed in 1973.
