Circular Quay, fast ferry
This fast ferry is waiting at the Circular Quay ferry wharves with the Sydney Opera House in the background. Manly Fast Ferry is a privately owned company which provides ferry services from the northern beaches suburb of Manly to Circular Quay and Darling Harbour.

Loftus Street, monument and flag
This sandstone plinth with a flagpole is located along Loftus Street, outside Customs House and opposite Jessie Street Gardens at Circular Quay. The plinth contains a plaque unveiled on the 26th January 1988 to commemorate the bicentenary of the founding of the colony of New South Wales while the flagpole flies the Union Jack flag. The plaque reads: This Flag Mast Was Erected To Commemorate The Location At Which The First Ceremony of Saluting The Flag By Captain Arthur Phillip R.N. And His Company Took Place To Mark The Foundation Of Australia On 26th January 1788. I chose to show this photo today because it is Australia Day, which celebrates this event.

This bridge leading to a small pontoon on the Parramatta River is located at the marina at the end of Margaret Street, in the lower north shore suburb of Woolwich. Cockatoo Island can be seen in the near distance while the Sydney skyline is in the far distance towards the left.

Woolwich, Marist Sisters' Convent
The former Marist Sisters' Convent is located along Woolwich Road in the lower north shore suburb of Woolwich. It was built in 1908 in the Federation architectural style and is now part of the Marist Sisters' College, a Catholic secondary school for girls.

Woolwich, theatre
The Hunters Hill Theatre is located along Margaret Street, in the lower north shore suburb of Woolwich. The heritage-listed building was originally St John's Anglican Church, designed by Cyril Blacket and built in 1908 in the Victorian Free Gothic architectural style. The Hunters Hill Theatre began in 1930 and staged productions in various locations including the Town Hall, church halls and little Stables Theatre. In 1978 they found a permanent home in the timber church hall behind St John's until 1993 when it was destroyed by a fire lit by vandals. In 1995, it took over the deconsecrated St John's Church.

Circular Quay
This view of Circular Quay is from the Overseas Passenger Terminal, as a couple of ferries at the ferry wharves. This was taken a while ago when a crane had been brought in to refurbish the wharves. The city skyline rises above Circular Quay railway station and the elevated Cahill Expressway above it.

Newtown, cinema
This former cinema is located King Street in the inner city suburb of Newtown. In the early 1900s the site was occupied by the original Hub Theatre. This art deco-style building operted as a cinema until 1965 when it was converted into a community hall and renamed the Burland Community Hall. From 1986 to 1995 the upper floor of the hall was the Newtown branch library. After the library moved to new premises the building was redeveloped into offices and retail space.
