Coney Island is part of the Luna Park amusement park, in the north shore suburb of Milsons Point. Coney Island Funny Land is a heritage listed fun house which opened in 1935. It features such classic amusements as the Turkey Trot, Barrel of Laughs, Giant Slides and the Wonky Walk. This art deco building is also used as a venue for functions. It is dominated by a large Russian style onion dome and minarets.

Cool building!
ReplyDeleteThis seems to be a bit of a British tradition that didn't travel to Canada, unfortunately. Lovely looking building.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, Leslie. I thought it was an American tradition because they used the Coney Island name but it hadn't occurred to me that they both followed the British tradition of amusement parks.
DeleteI don't know about you, but the "Turkey Trots" sounds like getting the "runs" from eating turkey! cool photo, though!
ReplyDeleteThat would be unfortunate, in the middle of a fun park.
DeleteThe building almost looks like a mosque!
ReplyDeleteMany children and adults alike would have spent many happy times here I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteNothing like art deco architecture! I've always admired it.
ReplyDeleteLooks and sounds like a fun place.
Looks like a fun place to spend the day!
ReplyDeleteSplendid fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool building...and another Coney Island on your part of the world. It has "good times" written all over it. Genie
