This sunset view of the Darling Harbour footbridge and the Darling Park Monorail Station was on the last day of operation of the Sydney Monorail. The bridge takes pedestrians over the Western Distributor and links to a ramp in Market Street, near the corner of Sussex Street. The monorail track is currently being demolished with the monorail stations to follow later.
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, a piece of history now consigned to photos

Such lovely lighting. And the monorail looks like a time capsule from this perspective.
ReplyDeleteWonderful sky and photographed so well.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful sky-post!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pastel skies and a terrific capture as always, Jim!! Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteAre monorails becoming a thing of the past??? I can remember when they were state of the art. Such a beautiful sunset.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are historic now in Sydney. :)
DeleteYou always have little historical tidbits to nibble on. So sad about the monorail...

ReplyDeleteCreative shot with juxtaposition of sky and man made monorail ~ Great shot for SWF ~ thanks, carol, xxx
ReplyDeleteAn excellent little piece of soon to be history you have captured there Jim
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely shot.
ReplyDeleteA great photo Jim, this place has special meaning to me. :-(
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot with beautiful light, Jim.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend.
What a beautiful and gorgeous shot! I love the colors of the sky!
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the monorail going away. The last day of operation must have brought a lot of people out, thus explaining the large number of people on the footbridge. A colorful shot, Jim, bustling with activity and a welcome contribution to Sunday Bridges. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, Louis. There was a long queue to ride the monorail one last time.
