Camperdown, University of Sydney, fountain

This fountain is located beside the main building of the University of Sydney, in the inner city suburb of Camperdown. It is dedicated to Sir Francis Anderson, Professor of Logic and Mental Philosophy 1890-1921 and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts 1914-16 and 1920-21. He was instrumental in the reform of New South Wales education. It's an odd combination of sandstone and pebble concrete.

  1. That's an interesting fountain. The way it's designed, the fountain itself looks arid.

  2. I attended the University of Sydney many years ago, but did not have the pleasure of seeing this fountain. The beauty of simplicity.

  3. I'm thinking it's a deliberate understatement to avoid all the students jumping in the fountain?!

  4. Fountain speaks of simplicity and round shapes perhaps teaching us that learning never ends.

  5. What a unique fountain. It looks as if it's made from Terra Cotta.
