This heritage listed bank is located along Great North Road, in the inner west suburb of Five Dock. It was built in 1924 in the Georgian/Classical Revival architectural style for The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney. The CBC bank merged with the National Bank of Australasia in the 1980s to become the National Australia Bank.

It looks so stark and square compared to the banks we see in more modern times.
ReplyDeleteIt does look a tad stark, but if it takes care of business who cares what it looks like! And I do love your blue skies as always, Jim! Have a great new week!
ReplyDeleteQuite stylish, particularly when you compare it to the bland cookie cutter versions of banks that get opened these days.
ReplyDeleteGreat composition photo with the blue sky and red building!
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you!

Nice colors and looks so solid -- a bank you can trust, it seems to say!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting posts and great photos. I like the way you hi-light the best and most interesting places in Sydney.
ReplyDeleteThanks, mick.
DeleteI like the stark simplicity of the bank building and of your full frontal approach to it.
ReplyDeleteI think banks had to look solid, reliable and trust worthy, even if they were crooks. This building looked very solid :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Hels, that bank is giving a very good "we're not going anywhere" message :)
ReplyDeleteGreat find!
