This former corner shop and residence is located on the corner of Forbes Street and Wilson Street, in the inner city suburb of Woolloomooloo. It was built in 1885 in the Victorian Italianate architectural style. Beside it, along Forbes Street, are a couple of terrace houses and another residential building built in the Victorian style. The colours are very eye-catching.
Shalom Jim. Our thoughts are with Sydney and Martin Place all day today. May it end well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dina. Sadly it has had a tragic outcome. My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives. We have returned to some sort of normalcy this morning but we are all quite saddened and anxious since Martin Place is just four blocks from where we work.
DeleteI have walked through peaceful Martin Place in all seasons. But now it will never be the same.
DeleteThe TV news picture of so many flowers on the ground there, and even a Chabad menorah, just made me break down in tears.
I went down to Martin Place at lunchtime today and it was quite emotional seeing all the tributes and a long queue of people leaving flowers or signing condolence books. A strange feeling too with so many people in Martin Place, yet it was so quiet.
DeleteThat Victorian Italianate style architectural style from the 1880s is very appealing. And very Australian.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts, too, are with all of those in Sydney and Martin Place!! So much heartbreak!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sylvia. It's a very sad day in Sydney and there's not much else anyone is talking about today.
DeleteBeautiful architecture and I love the vivid blue sky.
ReplyDeleteLove the name and wonderful photography of the unique architecture!
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you,
artmusedog and carol
Hope everything is settling down. Our prayers are with everyone there.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Beautifully composed and shot!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely building.
ReplyDeleteIt was stunning to see the story developing last night here... and a sad ending too.
I was sorry to hear about the hostage incident in Sydney - it sounds like craziness is heading your way as well. I hope you and those you love are safe, and that there's no repeat of this sort of activity.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you, ad come visit to link up at http://www.image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2014/12/cats-eye-variations.html
Thanks, Sue. We're all trying to come to to terms with how the perpetrator with a history of violent crime, infatuation with extremism and mental instability was out on the streets
DeleteI saw the news and I followed it all the way through. I think that every one stepped up esp with the #illridewithyou project. The photo looks nice and I its sad that someone wants to hurt a beautiful city.

Thanks, pixiedusk. "I'll ride with you" shows the true humanity of Sydneysiders.
DeleteI am never disappointed in the images that I see when I stop by your blog. Well done, really well done. Have a blessed day.
