Sydney Hospital, Worrall Block

Sydney Hospital is located along Macquarie Street, opposite Martin Place. The Worrall Block is on the Sydney Hospital campus, located along Hospital Road, opposite The Domain. It was designed by John Kirkpatrick and built in 1894 in the Victorian architectural style with arts and crafts movement influences. This heritage listed building contains the Worrall Lecture Theatre and Chapel of St Luke the Physician.

  3. So not used as a hospital now? Certainly unique especially for that purpose, it looks more like a castle.

    1. This building is part of the hospital campus but the main hospital wards are in different buildings.

  4. It does have a fairy tale feel, especially with that lovely blue sky above it.

  5. When my husband finished his medical training at Sydney University 100+ years ago, he did his hospital training at Sydney Hospital. I certainly remember the Georgian-designed North Wing of Sydney Hospital in Macquarie St. But I don't remember even seeing The Worrall Block. I certainly would have remembered that unusual architecture.
