The Statue of Gilgamesh is located along Western Avenue, on the University of Sydney campus, in the inner city suburb of Camperdown. The 2.5 metre statue was created by Lewis Batros on behalf of the Assyrian community and unveiled in 2000. It depicts the fictional Gilgamesh, king of Uruk and Enkidu from The Epic of Gilgamesh, a poem from ancient Mesopotamia.
I would say that this is the look of the ancient Warrior and Poet, a strong man in that the lion submits. Great sculpture!

That is a great statue. I was glad you explained why it was in Australia as I know the legend and know he is not Australian.
