The former St Mary’s Star of the Sea convent is located on the corner of Forest Raod and Croydon Road, in the southern suburb of Hurstville. It was built in 1886 and is now part of Bethany College, a Catholic girl's high school.
The 1886 architecture and wrought iron decoration were beautiful, and well preserved. I am glad there isn't a single red brick showing... the stone or render is much more suitable for a girls' school.
The architecture is pretty, and fitting for the area.

ReplyDeleteVery nice building. I like the wrought iron on the upper floor!
ReplyDeleteI'm imagining some good views from that upper balcony.
ReplyDeleteIt's up high on a ridge and you would be able to see down on the suburbs towards Botany Bay.
