Tempe, sports centre, mural

The Robyn Webster Sports Centre is located in Tempe Reserve, in the inner west suburb of Tempe. It features outdoor netball courts and indoor netball, volleyball and soccer courts. 'Gift Given' is a mural created by Bronwyn Bancroft which covers 3,800 square metres of the building. The Aboriginal art features fish, sand goannas, rainbow serpents, men and women in diamond formations. It is the largest mural in the Southern hemisphere and the detailed walls and roof are a landmark for planes landing at nearby Sydney Airport.

  2. That is amazing graphics on this building. Interesting that it is based on Aboriginal symbols. As a pilot I can see how it is used as a landmark.

  4. Thanks for explaining the symbols. They reminded me of designs you see on tapa cloth. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
