Circular Quay, Lunar Lanterns, Horse

Lunar Lanterns have been installed around Circular Quay to celebrate the Sydney Lunar New Year Festival. In the Chinese zodiac, every year is symbolised by an animal and this year is the Year of the Rat. These Horse lanterns have been installed in front of Bennelong Apartments at East Circular Quay. The Zodiac symbol of the Horse is characterised as animated, active and energetic. They love to be in a crowd and to take centre-stage.

  1. Those faces are a bit creepy but I love the decorations on them.

  2. Oh-hooo, those are scary ones, and, as Linda says, look Egyptian-like, too (great memories of 198-something, when the poeple (women) were still free over there).

  3. Chinese sculptures? Their heads look Egyptian.

  4. Yeah, Egyptian. In the days of the old Egyptians everything was coloured

  5. It is indeed a bit scary and perhaps its creator is so frightened that he/she has thrown that cheerful decoration against it.

  6. Even though as others said their faces look Egyptian I like the colourful decoration on the statues.
    Thanks for participating Jim.
