This sculpture stands on the shore of the Parramatta River near Newington Armory, in the western suburb of Sydney Olympic Park. It was created for the Invictus Games, an international adaptive multi-sport event in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in nine sports. The third Invictus Games were held in Sydney in 2018, at Sydney Olympic Park venues "I AM" is the motto of the games, which is short for "I am the master of my fate".
