This former post office is located on the corner of Norton Street and St Johns Road, in the inner west suburb of Leichhardt. This heritage listed building was designed by James Barnet and built in 1888 in the Victorian Academic Classical and Victorian Italianate styles. It was sold in 1992 and the main part of the building now houses a private legal office, while the post office only occupies the small side annexe.
I like its architectural style.

ReplyDeleteEven though the interiors are being used for different purposes, I am delighted the integrity of the external architecture has been maintained. And the post office wording.
ReplyDeleteSometimes on these old buildings, they won't continue to paint the words in another colour but I'm glad that's not the case here.
DeleteIt is a grand building!
ReplyDeleteI like this building - quite classical and a lovely color against that deep blue sky.
