Woolloomooloo, Sculpture Walk

This sculpture is located along the boardwalk in the inner city suburb of Woolloomooloo, with the Finger Wharf and marina as a backdrop. 'Guardian' was created by artist Greg Johns. The Woolloomooloo Sculpture Walk is an annual exhibition of Australian contemporary sculpture which is here until May 30 2023, hosted by ARTPark Australia.

  1. The sculpture is interesting and, like most of the Australian sculptures I've seen on your blog and others, it is quite modern. But the really striking thing on your post is the name of the city where this sculpture is found: Woolloomooloo. I find such names, which I would guess are of aboriginal origin, to be absolutely fascinating.

    1. That's right, Sue. Woolloomooloo comes from an Aboriginal word "Walla-mulla" for a young male kangaroo.
