Lavender Bay, sunset

The sun sets behind the inner west suburb of Balmain. This view was from the north shore suburb of Milsons Point, on New Year's Eve, looking past Lavender Bay and McMahons Point. The boats and people had gathered to watch the fireworks over Sydney Harbour at 9pm and later at midnight.

  4. Lovely. What's the silhouette, it looks like a lighthouse but it can't be.

    1. Ann, it's the bell tower of St Augustine's Catholic Church at Balmain.

  5. Great answer about the bell tower, your blog is a great resource. You deserve an Order of Australia or at least a Koala stamp!

I like the way you are trying to hide the sun behind that tower. ;-)
